As the school year begins to wind down, so does my time here as youth director. It is bitter sweet as I reflect on these past 4 years that I’ve been blessed to work here. I think back to 2008 when Janne and I had just been married and I started full steam ahead. It was trial by fire the first few months trying to figure out how to survive as a youth pastor in a pack of crazy kids! Luckily, I had Janne by my side, attending every event, leading bible studies, and being my number one supporter/encourager. I could not have made it to year 4 without her. Janne wasn’t the only dedicated youth worker: Greg Keller, Chris Craps, and Glen Anderson have been helping since Nathan Calvert and Muir Adams’ time here. They deserve a special award for the amount of time and energy they poured into these kids. I am very grateful for their commitment to this ministry and me.

There are many things I will miss here at First Presby, but the thing I’ll miss most are the students. We’ve had some awesome kids graduate through our youth ministry, but this current group takes the cake. They have so much potential for Christ, and It’s painful to think I won’t be seeing them through to graduation. But I know they’re just getting started. I’m confident that our youth staff serving under our new youth director, Allan Campbell, will continue to carry the torch high.

I want to personally thank each of you who have supported Janne and I, as well as the youth ministry these past 4 years and beyond. This ministry changed my life as a high school sophomore, and it continues to change lives today. The impact sometimes seems miniscule, but it isn’t. We’ve seen hundreds of students come through our doors in my time here. Some have come once or twice, and some have never left. Both are a win for Christ, because we are in the business of planting seeds for Him. And let me tell you, we’ve been some busy sowers! I am certain I may never see a majority of the fruit from our time here, but I am completely confident knowing that someday Christ will break through their hearts and will become real to them because of the smallest of seeds that was planted at a simple church, with loyal youth workers, and faithful supporters, all because they loved Christ and wanted to show His love to these kids.

I will remember my time here fondly, and my hope and prayer is that this ministry continues to grow, and continues to impact students lives in a very fun and personal way.

Again, thank you for your love and support.

In Christ,

Brandon
